There are different types ofPhotovoltaic cells<\/a>(TOPCon, HJT, BC, perovskite cells), production processes, equipment investment and development trends, as well as cost analysis of these four technologies.<\/p>\n

01.TOPCon battery<\/h3>\n

TOPCon cells use the PECVD (plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition) process, and its production equipment has basically been domestically produced. The investment cost is about 160 million yuan\/GW, slightly lower than the 170 million yuan\/GW of the LPCVD (low pressure chemical vapor deposition) process, but higher than PERC cells (about 130 million yuan\/GW). The investment gap is mainly reflected in the cleaning process of borosilicate glass. The LPCVD process requires more machines to deal with the problem of winding plating. With the improvement of equipment scale effect and the advancement of process technology, the cost of related equipment is expected to still have room for decline.<\/p>\n

02. HJT battery<\/h3>\n

The production process of HJT (heterojunction) batteries is much simpler than that of TOPCon batteries, requiring only four steps: cleaning and texturing, amorphous silicon thin film deposition, TCO film deposition and metallization. With the gradual maturity of HJT technology, the cost of equipment investment has dropped significantly. From 1 billion yuan\/GW in 2022 to 364 million yuan\/GW, the current average price of equipment is between 300 million and 350 million yuan\/GW, and there is still room for decline in the future. Equipment investment in HJT batteries is mainly concentrated in amorphous silicon deposition equipment (accounting for 50-60%), TCO film deposition equipment (accounting for 20%), and cleaning and texturing and screen printing equipment (each accounting for about 10%).<\/p>\n

03. BC battery<\/h3>\n

Compared with PERC, TOPCon and HJT cells, the biggest change of BC (back contact) cells is the addition of graphic requirements in the production process. Especially in IBC, TBC and HBC structures, laser technology is required to form interdigitated P-type and N-type areas and align the electrodes. In addition, compared with other technologies, the production process of BC cells also requires the addition of mask plating, laser etching, laser grooving and multiple cleaning processes, so the equipment investment is relatively high, including thin film deposition equipment, laser equipment and cleaning and etching machines. Since the process of BC cells has not yet been fully stabilized, the industry is still optimizing the production process, and the relevant equipment investment amount refers to the investment situation of Aixu ABC components.<\/p>\n

04. Perovskite battery<\/h3>\n

Perovskite cells have significant advantages, especially in the single-junction and stacked cell routes. However, the process of perovskite cells is still in the stage of continuous exploration and improvement, so the equipment investment cost is relatively high. With the deepening of technology research and development and the gradual maturity of the process, its cost is expected to drop significantly.<\/p>\n

In general, there are significant differences in the production process and equipment investment of different types of photovoltaic cells. At this stage, the production costs of HJT cells and TOPCon cells are relatively high, but with the localization process and technology optimization, the cost is expected to be further reduced in the future. The production process of BC cells is more complicated and the equipment investment is large, but its innovation potential is still great.
