Commonly used in 10GBaseT applications.<\/p><p>S\/UTP \u2013 Shielded\/Unshielded Twisted Pair: An overall braided shield surrounds all 4 unshielded twisted pairs.<\/p><p>SFTP \u2013 Screened and Foil Twisted Pair: There is a foil shield around the individual twisted pairs and the overall shield is sometimes a flexible braided shield. This provides the highest level of interference protection.<\/p><p>SF\/UTP \u2013 Shielded and Foil\/Unshielded Twisted Pair: Has both an overall braid screen and a foil shield for the unshielded twisted pair. These cables are also sometimes referred to as STP cables and are very effective at protecting against EMI\/RFI entering or leaving the cable.<\/p><p>S\/FTP \u2013 Shielded Foil\/Twisted Pair: Overall braided shield, foil shielded twisted pair. The shield under the jacket is a braid, and each individual pair is surrounded by its own foil shield. The purpose of adding foil to the individual pairs is to limit the amount of crosstalk between them.<\/p><p>F\/FTP \u2013 Foil\/Foil Twisted Pair: Foil shielded overall, with foil shielded twisted pairs. Like F\/UTP, this cable is commonly used for 10GBaseT applications.<\/p><p>U\/FTP \u2013 Unshielded\/Foil Twisted Pair: Twisted pair with no overall shield or braid, but with a foil shield. This cable is also often used in 10GBaseT applications.<\/p><p>U\/UTP (UTP) \u2013 Unshielded\/Unshielded Twisted Pair: Wire pairs twisted together with absolutely no shielding.
