The Lao government has approved a feasibility study for a solar power project in Laman District, Xekong Province, by Saysana Energy Co., Ltd., according to the Vientiane Times. The project has an installed capacity of 1,000 megawatts and covers an area of 1,152 hectares in Nayong Village and Babu Village in Laman District.<\/p>\n
The project, with a total investment of US$1.2 billion, aims to develop the area into a large power supply base for exporting electricity to neighboring countries such as Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand, while studying the advantages of exporting electricity to Singapore to meet the huge demand for electricity in these countries' rapid industrial development.<\/p>\n
On the morning of April 11, Lao Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Satabandi Inxixiangmai, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines Sinawat Suphanuong, Director of the Planning and Investment Department of Xekong Province Sakku Pubasa and Chairman of Saysana Energy Sole Proprietorship Co., Ltd.
