The main advantages of tab-free batteries are as follows:<\/p>\n
1. The internal resistance of the battery is low and the charge and discharge rate is high<\/p>\n
The winding length of the traditional 1860 battery is 800mm. Taking the copper foil with good conductivity as an example, the distance between the pole ear and the copper foil is 800mm, which is equivalent to the current passing through an 800mm long wire. Through calculation, the resistance is about 20m\u03a9, the winding length of the 2170 battery is about 1000mm, and the resistance is about 23m\u03a9. The entire collector of the 4680 battery is the "pole ear". The current is transmitted horizontally from the pole ear to the collector plate and longitudinally to the collector. The entire conductive length changes from 800mm of 1860 or 2170 copper foil to 1000mm (battery height). The resistance is reduced to 2m\u03a9, and the internal resistance consumption is reduced from 2W to 0.2W, which is directly reduced by an order of magnitude. Moreover, due to the small internal resistance, the battery's charging and discharging performance will also be superior.<\/p>\n
2. Better heat dissipation<\/p>\n
The power battery pack of electric vehicles has a large capacity, and the heat dissipation problem cannot be ignored. The traditional battery with lugs has a small electrical contact area, which is not conducive to current conduction. When the battery is charged and discharged, it is easy to cause excessive local heat at the connection between the lugs.<\/p>\n
The tab-free design turns the entire positive and negative electrode collectors into tabs, making current conduction and heat generation more uniform, so the heat dissipation effect is relatively better, and uniform temperature control is one of the key points to extend battery life.<\/p>\n
